Website Redesign vs Optimization: When to Do What
One of the most common questions we hear: "Should I completely redesign my website, or just make some improvements?" The answer depends on three factors.
When to Optimize (Not Redesign)
Your current site is working reasonably well but could be better. The design is modern enough, the tech stack is solid, but conversions could improve. In this case, targeted fixes — better CTAs, faster load times, SEO improvements — can yield significant results without the cost and disruption of a full rebuild.
When to Redesign
Your site is visually outdated, built on a slow platform (Wix, Squarespace, old WordPress), or wasn't built with conversion in mind. The tech debt is too high to fix incrementally. You're losing business because your site looks unprofessional compared to competitors. In this case, a full rebuild on a modern framework is the right call.
The Test
Ask yourself: if a prospective client visits my site right now, does it inspire confidence? Does it clearly explain what I do and make it easy to take the next step? If the answer to either question is no, it's time for a redesign.
